How to Participate in Oikotaan

Participation in Oikotaan is absolutely free. You can perform any of your musical creation in our stage subject to the fact that it is purely original. To participate, you have to register in this portal via the ‘Registration‘ section. Before you proceed to registration, it is highly recommended that you go through the points below to become aware of our registration process and other rules and regulations. You can also check our FAQ section to further clarify your doubts.

The registration for Oikotaan 4 is now closed. We will notify about the registration window for Oikotaan 5 in due course.



Basic Rules:

  1. The musical composition performed by a particuler performer or group of performer should be purely original.
  2. There is no barrier of Genre or Language or time. However, it is recommended to every performer to limit their original composition within 12 minutes to avoid any technical complications.
  3. A performer can perform Solo or in a band in Oikotaan. This choice has to be declared during the registration process.
  4. The performers will be provided with an Drum-kit, A Keyboard (Yamaha PSR 435), A Cajon and A Harmonium by Euphony. Performers have to arrange any other instrument on their own
  5. A particular performer can perform ONLY ONE original composition in Oikotaan. The full composition with its lyrics (if it is not an instrumental piece) has to be submitted during the registration process. The performer has to perform the exact composition that has been sent during registration in the exact same manner.
    However, subject to our internal decision, we may allow two compositions from a particular performer, scheduling one composition on each of the event day.   6. Lyrics involving Hate speech, Unparliamentary phrases and ‘Direct’ Political Indication is strictly prohibited.
  7. Deep thoughts in lyrics and unconventional creativity in music are highly encouraged.

Registration Process

The registration process for Oikotaan 4 is divided into two parts. To participate, the performers have to complete both the parts for a successfull registration.

PART 1

  1. In this part, details regarding the performers will be sought. The performers have to provide their Names, Name of the band (if applicable), contact number, Email ID, and A valid ID proof number. The ID proof has to be brought by the performer on the event day. The performers are adviced not to change their contact number and email ID until the event.
  2. Within 48 hours after submitting the part 1 registration form, the performers will receive an unique registration number in their registered Email ID.  After getting the registration number they can proceed to part 2 registration.

PART 2

  1. In this part, the performers have to upload the audio/video file along with the lyrics (if applicable) of the original composition that they want to perform in Oikotaan 4. It is important to remind the performers that they can perform ONLY ONE original composition in the event and they have to perform the exact composition they have submitted in the EXACT SAME MANNER.
    However, subject to our internal decision, we may allow two compositions from a particular performer, scheduling one composition on each of the event day.   2. The performers can also upload, if they want, any other media relevant to their music, i.e. Logo/artwork of their band, video/images of band members, details about their thoughts on music etc.

The registration window for Part 1 will remain open till 15th March, 2018.
The registration window for Part 2 will remain open till 18th March, 2018.

Process flow After Registration

  1. Each of the original compositions submitted through the successful registration will be reviewed by the ‘Euphony Oikotaan Selection Team’.
  2. After review, Euphony will declare the final selectees of Oikotaan in its social media handles and will also contact the selectees over phone to intimate about their selection and their tentative schedule of performance. In reply the Selected performers have to confirm their presence on that schedule failing which their selection will be cancelled.
  3. After telephonic confirmation, each of the participant will receive a confirmation letter containing their tentative schedule of performance. They have to take a print out of that confirmation letter, sign it and bring it to the event venue on the day of their performance along with the particular photo identity proof in original that has been mentioned during registration.
  4. On each of the Event Day, the Reception Desk and Sound Check facility will open from 1000 Hrs and will remain open till 1500 Hrs. The performers have to report in the reception desk upon their arrival between this time and after completing necessary formalities they will be provided a 15 minutes’ slot for sound check. The slots for sound check will be decided on first-come-first-serve basis. However, the performers are adviced to come to the venue as early as possible to avoid last-minute-hassle. No time for sound check will be provided in the scheduled time of performance.
  5. During their performance, beside presenting their OC, the performers are suggested to share their thoughts on how they have created their music or any other thing that they want to share to make the event more interactive. After their performance, our eminent guests will provide their opinionabout the performance. The performers can also interact with them further to get more inputs for the enrichment of their music.
